Hull internet provider KC has revealed it hopes to surpass the milestone of 15,000 fibre broadband connections during 2012.
Nick Thompson, director of consumer markets at the company, predicted that society's reliance on the web is likely to continue to increase - which is why KC wishes to provide the fastest speeds for the businesses and homes it deals with, reported thisishullandeastriding.co.uk.
He said: "Through our investment in fibre and our launch of KC Lightstream 350, we're providing tomorrow's broadband speeds, today."
According to broadbandwatcher.co.uk, the company has already delivered the product to 7,500 premises this year, but the goal is to reach double this quantity.
The KC Lightstream 350 service features a download speed of 350 megabits per second (Mbps) and upload capability of 20Mbps, which would place businesses in a strong position in terms of using high-performance cloud computing services.
One of the latest areas for the package to be rolled out has been an area of more than 1,000 homes in the Kingswood neighbourhood in Hull.
Mr Thompson added: "What's really exciting is that our decision to invest in Fibre To The Premises technology to deliver lightning fast broadband means we'll be able to maintain our position as the provider of the UK's fastest fully fibre broadband services of the future."
