This week, the final stage of the UK's greenest data centre was completed as we welcomed Excool and its three cooling units to our Portsmouth site.

Needing a wind-free day to install proved difficult on the South coast, but the long awaited process was completed with a resounding applause as the units were gently lifted and placed on the roof.
12 staff were on-site to ensure the 180 foot crane delivered the units safely. It was a big job which took 7 hours but now means that PEER 1’s latest data centre will be the most power efficient in the UK.
Of the three units delivered, two will cool ‘Pod A’ and one will feed the electrical switch room. As the data centre fills, additional units will be added to the roof.
“Partnering with Excool was an easy decision that will enable our clients to reach their energy efficiency targets.” said Dominic Monkhouse, EMEA MD of PEER 1. “There were a few moments where we wondered how on earth these things would get on the roof … there was a huge sigh of relief when the last one touched down.”
Mark Collins, Sales Director at Excool was delighted with how the installation went “We have spent two years developing and enhancing a blend of components used extensively in other sectors to create a product specifically for the data centre industry that delivers the most reliable and efficient data centre cooler available. This was a very exciting project for us.”
